🛴LAWS REGARDING E-SCOOTERS🛴 As the festive season approaches, the Shirebrook Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to remind residents of the legal restrictions surrounding the use of electric scooters. It is illegal to ride a privately owned electric scooter (commonly referred to as an ‘e-scooter’) in any public space, including pavements, roads, and parks. These vehicles may only be used on private land with the explicit permission of the landowner. Between November 2024 and November 2025, Derbyshire Constabulary seized 622 e-scooters across the county—a significant increase compared to 29 in 2022 and 49 in 2023. Derbyshire Constabulary have also observed a significant reduction in injuries resulting from e-scooter collisions. Between November 2024 and November 2025, only nine injuries were reported, compared to 18 during the same period in the previous year. We strongly encourage the public to consider the legal implications of e-scooter ownership before making a purchase, particularly when these devices are intended for children or young people. RIDE SAFELY, RIDE LEGALLY. #CommunityPolicing #SaferNeighbourhoodsTogether
